Appeals
There may be points throughout your journey to adulthood, where you are unhappy with a decision that has been made by education, health or social care professionals.
Appeal processes are there to help you notify professionals that you want them to reconsider a decision that has been made, that you are not in agreement with.
If you are a young person, who has a special education need and/or disability and you want to appeal a decision, Ask Us Nottinghamshire can support you with the following types of appeals:
- Educational Placement Appeals – Where you haven’t been given a place at the school or college that you wanted.
- EHC Plan Appeals – If your appeal is about the LA’s refusal to assess, refusal to issue an EHC Plan, the contents of an EHC Plan, the school or setting named in an EHC Plan, or the decision to cease an EHC Plan.
- Disability Discrimination Appeals – These appeals can be made when you feel that you have been treated unfairly, due to your disability.
- Judicial Reviews – These appeals can be made where you believe that a decision has not been made in a lawful, fair and reasonable manner.
- Exclusion Appeals – These are where a child or young person has been excluded from an education setting, and they feel the exclusion was unfair.
- Transport Appeals – These can be made where you feel that they are entitled to assisted travel arrangements.
- Health and Social Care Appeals – These are where you disagree when you have been told that you don’t qualify for support, you feel that your needs have not been taken into account, you feel you need more support, your personal budget does not cover the cost of the support you need, or support has been withdrawn.
If you are unhappy with a decision that has been made, then please contact us to talk this through.
