IRIS Team Update: Why do we have a new website?

09th April 2019

You might have noticed that things have been changing recently, We know that change can be uncomfortable, so we’ve taken this opportunity to explain what’s happening:

Ask Us and the IRIS Project work to make sure that children and young people with special education needs and disabilities and their parents are able to easily access and find the right services, groups and support in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

These services are now managed by Futures, who have a 25-year history of working with local authorities to deliver support services to mainstream, special and independent schools, as well as supporting young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).

Ask Us and The IRIS Project are both parts of IASS - that stands for Information, Advice and Support Service.

  • Ask Us give advice and support to parents of children with SEND needs, as well as young people aged 16-24 who have SEND needs.
  • IRIS directs parents and young people to events, support groups and activities which can help make life more managemenle and fun.

We hope that, by putting both of these services in one place, we can make it easier for you to find what you need, when you need it.

Is Anything Really Changing?

We hope that the new website makes things easier to find, rather than changing the way you access the Ask Us and IRIS services. You can still call the AskUs team for advice and the IRIS magazine and newsletters will continue to be delivered as normal.

We will be posting about upcoming events, festivals, fairs and new organisations in the 'News and Events' section as we used to on the IRIS website, and the newsletters will link to these articles.

If you are still using our old website addresses: and, they will redirect you to this website. however, you might want to update your bookmarks to make things simpler for yourself.

We hope you like what we’re doing, but we welcome any feedback through our contact form.
