Using the Website and Accessibility
The Ask Us Nottinghamshire website is designed with your needs in mind. If you have any questions about the accessibility of this website, please get in touch.
Navigate to a YouTube video or pick one from this website. To see if a video has subtitles, play the video and click the icon that resembles a box with "CC" in the bottom right corner for the video playback. If the video has subtitles, you will see them on screen. If it does not, you can select annotations in the same settings cog. This will automatically generate subtitles. They may not always be 100% accurate but will help you to understand the video a little better.
Please watch this video to see how to change the speed of videos.
Hey guys, welcome to another Gauging Gadgets YouTube tutorial video. In this video, I'm going to show you how to slow down or speed up YouTube videos while you're watching them. So, if you've ever watched a YouTube video, maybe a tutorial, and you thought that the person was going too quickly, or if maybe you were getting bored and you thought they were going too slowly, in this tutorial I'll show you how to put YouTube videos in either slow motion or speed them up to save time. It's actually very easy and it's built into YouTube, both in the browser, so if you're on a desktop computer or a Chromebook, and on the app. I'll show you how to do it in the app as well. First, in the browser, as you can see I have one of my YouTube videos pulled up, and I now have it playing at normal speed. In order to change the speed of this video to slow it down or speed it up, all I need to do is go down to the bottom right and select the gear that is located in the bottom right corner of the video. This will open up the video settings. When they open up, you'll see "Playback Speed." Select that, and as you can see, it is currently selected on "Normal." You could slow it down by first going to 75 percent, 0.5, or 0.25, so that would be very slow. Or you can even speed it up by double time. So, if I slow it down, you can see me start moving slower, and if I speed it up, it'll go much faster. If you want to turn it off and go back to normal speed, just go back to the gear, go to "Playback Speed," and select "Normal." Now, within the YouTube app, to change the speed of a video, all you need to do is tap the video while it's playing, then hit the three dots on the top right to open the menu, select "Playback Speed," and then in there, you have the same choices that you would on a desktop computer. Alright, so that was a quick tutorial showing you how to speed up or slow down YouTube videos, both in the browser or if you're on your mobile phone. If you have any questions about this, leave a comment below, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. If you'd like to see more YouTube tutorial videos, check the links in the description. If this video helped you, give it a thumbs up and please consider subscribing to my channel Gauging Gadgets for more gadget reviews and tech tutorials. Thank you so much for watching!
